Construction financing for the eight-story hotel at 495 West San Carlos Street by Diridon Station in San Jose has been secured. The project will open a 176-room Marriott TowneSuites Hotel by the Google Downtown West mixed-use plan. Urban Catalyst, the project developer, has shared with YIMBY that they expect to start demolition during the next couple of weeks.

The Bay Area News Group has reported that Poppy Bank provided $48 million for construction, allowing Urban Catalyst to start building now. The Santa Rosa-based financial institution started in 2005 and has grown to several branches across the State, overseeing $4.5 billion in assets and $2.7 billion in loans.
BDE Architects is responsible for the design. The hotel will feature landscaped areas designed by Kimley Horn. Onsite amenities will include an exercise room, meeting rooms, a breakfast dining hall, and a rooftop deck. An indoor-outdoor lounge area will offer a bar and barbeque pit on the eighth floor.

The property site is located on the northeast corner of West San Carlos Street and Josefa Street. The hotel will be a twelve-minute walk away from San Jose Diridon Station, the future BART Stop, and a twenty-minute walk away from Downtown San Jose across the Guadalupe River.
