Napa-Based Landscaper Wins Award For Private Home Garden In St. Helena

NAPA, CA — Napa-based Lou Penning Landscapes, Inc. recently won the coveted Maintenance Sweepstakes Award for its ongoing landscape work at a private home in St. Helena.

The award was presented during the California Landscape Contractors Association North Coast Chapter’s Annual Achievement Awards Banquet, held at Foxtail Golf Country Club in Rohnert Park.

The Annual CLCA Achievement Awards Banquet recognizes outstanding landscapes and the contractors who create, build and maintain them. Members of the North Coast Chapter include landscape architects, designers, suppliers and educators located in Marin, Napa, Sonoma, and counties to the Oregon border.

The Maintenance Sweepstakes Award is one of the top awards a member can receive.

Lou Penning Landscapes also won first-place awards in the following categories: Medium Design Build, Sustainable Installation, and Large Residential Landscape.

Each of the awards was presented for work completed at homes within the Napa Valley.

Every day, the Lou Penning Landscapes Team incorporates “Bay-Friendly” landscape, organic gardening, and water conservation practices into its work throughout the Napa Valley and the North Bay. The team believes thriving landscapes and gardens are especially helpful to the environment as they improve air and soil quality.

Furthermore, Penning said, healthy landscapes reduce soil erosion, prevent wastewater runoff, and are more resistant to wildfires; hot topic issues that are at the forefront of our lives here in the Bay.

“In addition to making us feel good and increasing our property values, we believe that well-maintained landscapes serve a vital role in protecting our environment,” Penning said. “We’re pleased that our business and our work continues to contribute in such a positive way.”

The maintenance teams at Lou Penning Landscapes are led by Landscape Architect Katy Kabbe Foreman Juan Lopez and Foreman Jorge Meija.

The installation team for the Sustainable Landscape Design and the Medium Design Build was led by Landscape Architect Emmanuel Donval and Foreman Gau Parra. The teams would not be complete without Gemme VonKnopka, who designed and maintains the vegetable gardens attached to each of these properties.

“I’m so grateful for the honor we received,” said Katy Kabbe. “It’s such a pleasure to work on a team that takes creativity to another level, while staying true to our commitment to sustainability and environmental protection. I am sure I speak for the entire team when I say that we take great care in every property we have the opportunity to work on.”
